Sample Letters
Example 1:
To the Editor:
Justice Bob Young is a tough conservative rule of law judge. He is the kind of judge we need in Michigan. Justice Young believes in unbiased interpretation and applying the law as it is written. He believes that the words in our Constitution and statutes were carefully selected to have a particular meaning, and that judges should strive to determine that meaning and apply it to each case before them, not legislate from the bench. That is why I will be supporting Justice Bob Young this November and I urge everyone to do the same.

Example 2:
To the Editor:
I urge everyone to join me in supporting the reelection of Michigan Justice Bob Young to the Michigan Supreme Court in November. As a property owner, I know Justice Young will protect my constitutional rights. He has a clear record of protecting the constitutional rights of private citizens and their property. Justice Young has held that the government cannot take private property and give it to another private entity for that private entity’s own profit. Likewise, he has held that a homeowner is entitled to use deadly force when attacked in his or her own home. Please remember to vote on the non-partisan part of the ballot on November 2nd for Justice Bob Young.
Sincerely,

Example 3:
To the Editor:
I support Justice Bob Young because I know he will protect my rights. As a small business owner, it is important to be able to depend on and feel confident that the law will be enforced as it was written. Justice Young understands that small businesses deserve the same protection by the law as big business. My family and I will be voting for Bob Young in November, and I urge everyone to do the same.
Sincerely,

Example 4:
To the Editor:
If Michigan is going to get its economy moving again, one of the key factors is a stable legal climate. Granholm has continued to appoint more and more liberal judges that drive businesses from our state. We need to keep conservative justices like Bob Young on the Court who will follow the law instead of a liberal agenda. Justice Young’s work on the Michigan Supreme Court has decreased the amount of frivolous lawsuits, and created a stable and predictable legal climate in Michigan. He has made powerful enemies among trial lawyers, particularly the ambulance chasers, who benefit from uncertainty in the law. The working men and women of Michigan have and will continue to benefit from Justice Young’s work on the Court. This November I will cast my vote for Justice Bob Young on the non-partisan ballot.
Sincerely,

Example 5:
To the Editor:
Michigan needs more law and order justices like Bob Young on the Supreme Court. Too often, our police officers risk their lives bringing criminals to justice only to have some judge let them walk or give them a slap on the wrist. Bob Young has the support of every major enforcement group, including police officers, sheriffs and prosecutors. The police officers on the street know they have a tough Judge on the bench who will make sure lawbreakers are punished. Justice Bob Young has my full support in November because I know Michigan will be a safer place with him on the job.
Sincerely,
